Calling All Members to Triennial Conference 2006
Plan now to attend the 40th National and 16th International Triennial Conference of Delta Omicron at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois. The main conference will occur from July 27th through July 30, 2006, with Province President training sessions scheduled for July 26.
Conference 2006 will feature fraternity business meetings, officer training sessions, educational sessions, and province meetings. Chapter awards will be presented in the evenings at the Alumni and Collegiate Dinners. Everyone will want to attend the Rose and Gray Banquet on the evening of July 29 and the Lily-of-the-Valley Breakfast on the morning of July 30.
Music will hold center stage at Conference 2006 from daily sing-alongs of the fraternity songs to nightly concerts featuring alumni, collegians, and the Conference Artist, pianist Mary Fahrenbruck. The winning composition of the 2006 Fraternity Composition Competition for mezzo-soprano and piano and the Delta Omicron Foundation’s Thor Johnson Commission will be premiered on Saturday afternoon of the conference.
Friendships will be renewed and created at Conference 2006. This conference will feature informal luncheons so attendees can interact. Chapters will be able to share their accomplishments through the Chapter Achievement Book Display. Of course, everyone will have to make at least one visit to the Fraternity Sales and Exhibits to browse through the historical displays, check out the jewelry, and decide on the souvenirs and pictures to take home to share with colleagues.
Lodging for the conference will be primarily in the Harriet Fuller Rust House and Dodds Hall on the Illinois Wesleyan University campus. Business and educational sessions will be held in the new Center for Natural Sciences, meals are scheduled for Memorial Hall, and music events will occur primarily in the Westbrook Auditorium in Presser Hall.
Bloomington can be reached via Interstate 55, I-74, I-39/US 51, and Illinois 9 highways. Bloomington/Normal is on Amtrak’s Chicago–to-St. Louis route (the station is one mile north of the campus). There are commercial flights daily at the Central Illinois Regional Airport in Bloomington.
Registration information and materials will begin to appear in the winter issue of The WHEEL and on the Delta Omicron website. Chapters will be receiving information on delegate selection procedures in fall supplies. Delegate selection must be completed by late March.
